WON 4 - 0
I had a discussion with Kayley’s dad immediately after the game and maybe he was right- the stand in coach last week did a great job given we created more clear scoring chances on Sunday than we had in any previous game, I look forward to the next time he helps out.
I thought our performance was very promising, but I must also say that we need to continue to improve before we play the top 2 sides In Travellers and Central.
Back to the game though. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves I want to pay a special mention to our defence. Even though United scored, the goals were against the run of play and were quite soft. That’s was about 3 minutes of poor play out of 70 minutes of the game. Lyn, Steph and Annie were for the best part unbeatable on Sunday. Lyn particularly continues to hold solid in defence, no attack has been able to dominate us so that is a massive plus as we move towards some very tough games ahead.
I want to also pay special mention to Bec, Kate P and Taylah for a huge effort in both attack and defence. Kate particularly after only 2 hours sleep…I don’t know how she managed.
Everyone else performed excellently, one tip for all…don’t get frustrated if things don’t seem to go your way, sport has a habit of balancing out over time.
I have left this comment deliberately until last. I want to welcome Ayu to our team what a great first up performance providing speed and enthusiasm for 70 minutes resulting in 2 goals. I spoke to her afterwards letting her know she has now set the bar in terms of her personal performance. She needs to continue to develop and not let her performances drop. I believe it was suggested we send Lowie some flowers for sending Ayu to play with us J
Great game everyone, see you all at training. Remember if you cannot make it for any reason send me a text beforehand so I know.
